  Artificial Intelligence Today

Some people maybe be surprised as to how often Artifical Intelligence is used in today's world. In fact, many people
are most likely exposed to it daily and without any knowledge. The following is a list of a few examples of AI that the average person may not know about:

Authorizing Financial Transactions
Credit card companies, telephone providers, banks, and the U.S.
Government all implement AI to detect fraud and to accelerate/protect
daily transactions. The AI systems use learning algorithms to put
together a profile of customer usage patterns, and then use the profiles
to detect unusual patterns or behavior.

Diagnosing and Treating Problems
Systems that diagnose and treat problems are becoming more popular and widespread. Diagnostic systems based on AI technology are being built into photocopiers, operating systems, and office automation tools (i.e. Calling your credit card company). AI systems in the medical field assist physicials in many kinds of medical diagnosis, prescribing treatments, and in monitoring patient responses. Microsoft's Office assistant, found in many versions of Office, is a good example of AI within a common program.

  Scheduling for Manufacturing
The use of automatic scheduling in the manufacturing world is becoming more and more popular. This AI technology keeps track of the "supply chain" and responds to changing orders, changing markets, and unexpected events. This same AI has been proven to work with other tasks as well including job shop scheduling, assigning airport gates,
and assigning railway crews.
