Blog Entry #1

January 27th, 2016

Today, I received my project assignment. I am to create a Virtual Reality application for a smart phone. The application will give propspective students the opportunity to do a virtual tour of the Computer Science curriculum at St. Norbert College.

I additionally began some research into the different developer toolkits for VR applications on smartphones. The decision of whether this will be an application on an Apple phone or an android phone has yet to be determined, and it will play a large role in which toolkit I choose.

Dr. Pankratz did inform me that I was not the only one doing a mobile application. Dylan Cliff and CJ Lewis both have mobile application projects. Additionally, there is a past Computer Science tour-based application by Emily Techmeier (Class of 2015) that I could reference for some ideas. For the sake of getting a feel for mobile application development, I have contacted Dylan and CJ to see if they would like to meet together during lab tomorrow and make a basic Hello World application for the smart phone.

Construction of the site has begun. A theme and format has been selected, and the format of the site has been formulated. There will be the typical home page (users get a general introduction to the site), an about page (Description of me and my philosophy on Computer Science), a blog page (links to various blog entries), and a resources page (links to related projects and resources).
