"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."
-Thomas Edison
My dad said this saying several times growing up and in my time as a student at SNC I have seen how applicable this saying is in computer science. The opportunity to build something radical, something that might change the world is often passed over in software development. There is no doubt that building a reliable program is tedious. From getting all the bugs out to building a user interface that is intuitive and easy to use to documenting the program so that others can grasp how the program is structured, good software development is often "dressed in overalls and looks like work." However, there is tremendous opportunity in building software that not only meets the need but exceeds it. This saying embodies my computer science philosophy. There is always the opportunity to build solid software and I give every project my best work. Often I have found that the outcome has rewarded all the work that has been put in.
