The Final Post

Today I met with Dr. McVey and Dr. Diederich for my project defense. They gave some useful feedback, which I implemented into my project.

  • When Dr. McVey attempted to run my project previously, she was unable to do so because in my photos array, I had absolute file paths. I changed these to relative (which was super easy, if you right click on a photo you have added to your project and then click Properties, it displays both the absolute path and the relative path).

  • Dr. Diederich suggested that for the Dialogic reading, I do not have the prompt name read out loud. I switched this by adding a textbox at the top of the page that says the prompt type, and then below is the actual prompt, which can do text to speech. This was accomplished by adding an array called "Prompt Array" which contained the types of prompts and their corresponding question was displayed below.

  • Finally, I had mentioned during my presentation that sometimes the text-to-speech application does not always say what I want it to. For instance, I originally spelled the book "Dino And Duckie" as "Dino and Ducky", however, I changed the spelling because the text-to-speech module was saying, "Duckahy", which sounded very off.

It has been a fun semester and I am excited to see where life takes me from here. :)
