Cory M. Hahn
Major: Computer Science with a concentration in Graphic Design and Implementation
Computer Science Philosophy Statement:
When I was just a wee lad I was always tinkering around on my family's home computer. I was fascinated with the different kinds of programs and what they had allowed me to do. I really enjoyed computer games that allowed me to create graphical images and make them "come to life." My all-time favorite being Kid Pix. As I progressed to high school I really enjoyed video editing software like iMovie. I typically enjoyed creating quirky homemade videos that I could show off to the friends and family. Although, I never really thought about what made a computer tick.
At the beginning of my collegiate career I was planning to be a Psychology Major, minoring in Biology but something just didn't seem right about it. It wasn't until the second semester of my Sophomore year that I realized I should have been taking part in the Computer Science curriculum the whole time.
Computer Science to me is an empowering knowledge. I believe Computer Scientists possess a special kind of skill that a good chunk of the population doesn't. It's being able to speak another language, we're able to communicate with machines and bend them to accomplish a colossal amount of tasks that anyone could find useful.
