Philosophy StatementWhen I first arrived at St. Norbert College as an undeclared freshman, I underwent multiple tests to categorize my personality and what majors would be best suited for me. The results found that I had interest in creation and would be best suited for something in the arts. These results shocked me, I had always imagined pursuing a career in the mathematics or sciences. I continued to pursue math and so I enrolled in the Introductory Computer Science class. At first, I enjoyed the class because it allowed me to problem solve, and use my analytical side. However, during one of the final projects that I realized computer science was what I wanted to major in. Finishing my project, I was overwhelmed with joy, not just because it was done, but because I had created something that worked. I realized that computer science allowed me to you use both of my strongest skills, analytical thought and creation.
Through the years this feeling has not changed. When I can show my work, to someone else, that I created from the beginning, I am filled with pride. Pride in my ability to take nothing and turn it into something that people will be able to use in life. Pride that I am representing females in a male dominated major. I found this major to be rewarding and cannot wait to see what the future may hold for me. Future PlansAs of March 2018, I have accepted a position at Westbend Mutual Insurance, pending my graduation and aquiring my Bachelor's Degree. My official title will be as an Application Developer beloinging to the Claims IT team.
