(Example: Initiate a project to develop multimedia computer programs for testing and evaluating severely disabled children.) b. Stronger (female) role models c. Teachers should boost confidence in their female students and challenge them to produce their best work. d. Computer Mania Day - University of Maryland, Baltimore County e. Show women the diversity of the field and the many aspects involved. f. Parental encouragement from an early age greatly influences the choices children make in the future. h. Computer science classes should become general education requirements (in high school or college). i. Emphasize the application and usefulness of the field, not just the technical aspects. Many students are turned away because they are not aware of all of the possibilities that are out there in the computer science world. | ||||||
