I have been fascinated by the concept of a computer since I was first exposed to them as a child. Through my life, I have worked to gain an understanding of what a computer is and how it works. This interest is what lead me to choose CS as my major study area. In general, I believe that the computer revolution started in the previous decades has only begun. The effects of the computer will continue to spread, and they will become even more integral to our daily lives. However, the majority of people have only the most rudimentary knowledge of how computers work. This general lack of knowledge leaves the general public open to damage to their data and, as computers continue to spread, to every part of their personal lives. Therefore, it is the responsibility of people who do have the knowledge to develop safe systems with the users best interests in mind, and also work to increase the general knowledge of basic computer concepts within the general public.
