Philosophy Statement
When I enrolled in Saint Norbert College Computer Science had to have been the furthest thing from my mind. I bounced between Business and Chemistry before actually coming to school. I started on the Business path not being enrolled in any Computer Science classes, however my roommate was enrolled in the Computer Science CS110 and upon sitting next to an upper class men in one of my business class I decided I would dabble in the computer science field. After taking one class I was hooked. Not only was Computer Science very interesting but it offered endless possibilities.
The thing I enjoy most about Computer science is problem solving. Problem Solving is the name of the game in computer science, it is a constant problem needed to be solved. With the rapid development of new products and enhancements even what you might think to be a perfect program isn't that by any means. There are always enhancements that come along maybe not right at that time but in the future.
Second is the final product. There is no better feeling then working really hard on a program/ or project and to see the final reasult working how you want it to. You truly get rewarded for your hardwork by knowing that your piece of programming is making a difference and that you sweat and brain power was utilized fully.
Third is the challenges, being very competitive I take each project as a challenge. I want to be the best and do the best that I can and working hard on programs allows me to grow with the computer science world and expand on my knowledge. It is a challenge to learn and enhance every aspect of a project and program.
Fourth is working with a team. I have been a part of a team my whole life playing sports and I enjoy working with people to accomplish a common goal. I value working with people to accomplish goals and feel it is a vitale piece of the puzzle when trying to make things go.
Finally, it appealed to me from my business stand point. Now trying to go out into the work world I can take my computer science knowledge and not only apply it to the Computer side of things but to the businesses as well. It gives me a look inside how a system operates not just that it does operate.
Overall, Joining the Computer Science community of Saint Norbert College has been one of the most gratifying decisions. With the challenges and the push to continue to learn and grow with the field, it has given me the reassurance that I have chosen a major that is right for me. I value consistent growth and learning opportunities and being involved in Computer Science is going to do just that for me.

Career Plans
As of 5/8/2012 I am still in the hunt for a job. I would like to work in the Financial world writing programs for financial institutions. I am hoping long term to be able to combine both my Computer Science Degree and my Finance Degree to take on the financial world and better the process and the system from both a technological stand point but also a business stand point.
