About Me

My name is Andrew Burkart and I am a junior at St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI. I will be graduating in December 2021 with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics.

I did not start my college career at SNC. My freshman year, I attended the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. While UWM is a great school, I was drawn to St. Norbert because of the smaller class sizes. I attended one of Dr. Pankratz's CSCI 110 lectures before I decided to transfer and that is what ultimately solidified my descision.

I was born and raised in Sturgeon Bay, WI, which is about a one hour drive from De Pere. I have one younger sister named Rachel. She is a freshman at North Central University in Minneapolis, MN. At home, I have two dogs. Their names are Henry and Shelby, and they are both Jack Russel Terriers.

In my free time, I enjoy teaching myself to code. Over christmas break, I tought myself how to build iOS apps with Swift and SwiftUI. I also enjoy coding simple little projects that make life a little easier. Outside of coding and Computer Science, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching Netflix, and downhill skiing (even though I am not very good at it).

Philosophy Statement

I originally found my passion for Computer Science in high school when I took a website coding class. This class challenged me, but I liked that I was able to be creative in the way I that solved the tasks at hand. Two things continue to draw me to Computer Science. One. Everyone can be given the same task, yet no solution will be the same. I love the creativity that Computer Science gives you. Two. The world of technology is ever-changing. There will always be something in the Computer Science field that is new and exciting to learn. One goal of mine is to share my passion of Computer Science with others, so that they can find the joy in it that I do.
