Hello! My name is Samuel Beck, this is my senior capstone project
homepage. For this project, I will be creating a web interface that allows companies and users to predict whether
a new youtube video will be popular based on its features. It will achieve this through a classification model that
identifies the most reliable and explantory features.
Project Purpose
I had this idea after starting one of my online courses called, "Going Viral and Growth Hacking".
The class's goal is to learn about what makes things "viral" which makes me think about how companies and users can hop onto what
makes posts popular. Having a way to accurately predict or gauge a post could benefit companies through targeted advertising while
users could use it as a way to gain popularity on their posts.
Project Scope
Build a reliable classification model that has a high accuracy.
Be able to state what features are the most important.
Be able to recommend target metrics for users aim towards reaching.
Allow the user to see if their post will be popular given inputed metrics.
Look at growth rates to see if the post will continue to perform or if it was
short-lived popularity.
