Well, I’ve received the description of the project that I will be working on this semester. I will be creating a karaoke editor that will essentially act as a karaoke machine. The user should be able to choose a song, upload the lyrics and create a visual of the lyrics that is synchronized with the song. The application should also allow the user to create, play, save, open, close, etc. a music file along with its karaoke lyrics.
As with any large-scale project, this task seemed daunting at first. But I’ve begun to mentally separate the project into sections so that it doesn’t seem as daunting (there will be a physical timeline/plan at some point, but it is only week 1).
I have actually accomplished a few things despite only working on this for a short time. My original plan was to create an Android phone application which would allow the user to use their own music library with the application. Unfortunately, file access on Android turned out to be more complicated than I had intended and would have likely been more of an inconvenience to try and work with. I have instead decided to create a Windows application using WinForms. Not only was it way easier to access the system’s music library, but there are a lot of NuGet packages that will (hopefully) help with audio processing. I also spent all of last summer programming in C# for my internship so the syntax will hopefully come back to me quickly.
Anywho, I think I’ve rambled enough for this week. I’m hoping to have more of an update next week as I attempt to work on processing audio.
Thanks for reading!
