Professional profile
Dr. David Pankratz joined the St. Norbert College faculty in 1974 after graduating from St. Norbert College in 1969 and earning a Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1974.
Dr. Pankratz has a strong interest in engaging students in projects to complement and extend their course work. He designed a computer controlled robotic model railroad which has become an integral part of the computer science student project laboratory.
Research interests include computers reacting to each other and to their environment (robotics) along with curricular issues to adapt computer science education to remain current with technical and theoretical advances and changes.
Summer finds Dr. Pankratz mostly cruising on “Lucy Two,” his Heritage Springer Harley Davidson. In the fall, students are subjected to listening to his adventures while riding in the Rocky Mountains and logging around 15,000 miles. Oh, and yes, you will see him at the Sturgis Rally each year.
