My Journey to Become a CS Major
The start of my interest in computer started early. I began typing on a typewriter when I
was young using my mom’s typing book from the 70’s. Yes, the book was older, but it still
taught the basic concepts of typing.
Therefore, when we purchased our first computer I would type, type, and type. In grade school we had keyboarding
contests where we would have a black keyboard with no letters on it. We used a program that would track
how fast and how accurate we were. I
am not bragging, but I was the fastest and most accurate keyboarder in my class.
As I grew up, not only did I enjoy typing, but I also enjoyed taking apart the
computer when my parents were not looking.
I would look inside and then research what everything was. I would also ‘play’ around on the
computer to see what I could find.
Therefore, I began taking classes in high school, but never any
programming classes, just design, but they were still interesting and made me
want to pursue a degree in computer science.
Therefore, I began my computer science degree at St. Norbert College. With the
help of the entire computer science departments I am not finishing my senior
year. They have helped me achieve
all I can throughout my entire computer science career. They have helped me in times of
difficulty and frustration, lead me when I felt that I could not do it anymore,
and taught me the basics and to reach for my goals.
