Philosophy

I believe the field of computer science is sometimes misunderstood.  People tend to dismiss it as a field for anti-social people who rarely see the outside.  Although some of that may be true, there is so much satisfaction related to this field that if more people were willing to experiment with it, we would have many more majors.  The same satisfaction that comes from building something with your hands using tools, can be achieved when designing, writing and updating programs.

I was not interested in computers initially.  I have always found numbers to be easy, so when I began at St. Norbert College I was involved with the physics program.  Luckily I took a class in computer science as an elective.  Weeks into my physics course I found myself liking the computer science course more and more.  By the end of my first semester it was clear that what I really wanted to do was software engineering.

The more classes I took the more interested I became.  The career possibilities are endless.  I know that my education at St. Norbert College will sufficiently prepare me for the world to come.
