This section contains things like field images, screen shots and videos that illustrate some of my work on this project.

Abstraction of "line generation" process. See the power point file in the downloads section for details about why this is significant. "Milestone" video! The Zoom unit has been successfully guided for at least 1 mile by the latest vision algorithms! Video is MPEG format, about 30MB in size, 6:30 in length and represents less than half of the total mile traveled.

Screen shot of current version (Feb. 13, 2006) of lab mode interface processing an image. Screen shot of current version (Feb. 13, 2006) of algorithm configuration window with settings corresponding to the lab mode interface screen shot.

First live road test of the Zoom using only my vision algorithms for guidance. The algorithm never failed in this test! Very good results! Video is AVI format, about 24MB in size. Second live road test of Zoom using my vision algorithms: higher speed didn't go so well... Better luck next time! Video is AVI format, about 13MB in size.

Real image acquired from Zoom's onboard camera with road boundaries (red and blue) detected by my algorithms and a correction line determined (green). Early version of laboratory interface, showing a particularly "good" image that was acquired on a major highway. Although the camera was only poorely mounted on the dashboard of a car, the algorithm was still able to accurately pick up the lanes on many of the images from the trip.
