Getting Somewhere

Getting Somewhere

2/12/2023

This week was a lot of organizing and prioritizing. I had my mini poster board session where I was able to get feedback on my ideas for my app. This session reminded me of a lot of the things I had forgotten were in the scope of my project. Beyond getting a working app, I need to develop a method of saving work and lessons to help guide users. For now, I want my lessons to narrow down to focus on an audience that has experience with block coding and is using this app as a transition to text coding.

This week also brought the need to make a timeline of my project to show the full scope and approximately how long tasks will task. The timeline I have is very rough and has even changed from my first draft. I think that a lot of the tasks will be done in tandem together but the end dates of the tasks are important. Having these goals will help me keep on task.

Aside from getting organized, I also made some progress on the actual project. I now have 4 working functions that can be dragged into the text box and executed by clicking a button. I can set obstacles that cannot be passed and paint squares. My hope is to start working on getting more advanced concepts like loops and conditionals. I want to get a run and reset button as well. This screen is my top priority now because it is the main screen. I will need to add a home screen and a lesson window eventually but that doesn’t seem like it will be too hard. Here is a video update of how the program looks so far:
